Steel Tubing, Iron or Galvanized Pipes

The penetration of a magnetic field through steel tubing / pipe (except for
stainless steel) or iron pipe is minimal. If the GMX magnetics stick to the
tubing or pipe, they won't work. The accepted method of treatment in this case is to remove and replace a 24" section with either copper, plastic, PVC, rubber, aluminum, or stainless steel tubing or pipe.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Turbulence

For best results, always install GMX units a MINIMUM of 24" downstream of any pump, 12" downstream of your water meter, 6" downstream of any filters and 3" from any elbow or T. Ideally, magnetic treatment requires a laminar (smooth) flow of the fluid through the magnetic field for maximum
effectiveness.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Water Clarity

After installing the GMX System, an increase in water turbidity (cloudiness)
may be noted. This relates to a stabilization period of a few weeks during
which calcium deposits are being removed from the system while the GMX
System is descaling. It is important to monitor filters, tanks, and sumps
weekly/monthly and drain or clean them as needed.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Underground Pipe

In some situations, underground piping of magnetically treated water may
adversely affect the treatment. Treatment of long or extensive (100 feet or
more) underground water lines or sprinkler systems may require additional
units. Careful monitoring should be done for the first 30 to 60 days.
As a rule of thumb we like to see no more than 100 feet of pipe from the point of treatment to the point of use. Most homes have 50 feet or less of pipe from the point of water entry to the final point of use. Even if you install your GMX units just after your water meter you should be within these guide lines.

Electrical Equipment

The magnetic treatment of the GMX System may be decreased if electrical
equipment capable of generating a strong electrical field, i.e. a welder or large electrical motor, is too close to a water line on which the units are placed. Similarly, an electric power line running next to the pipe for over 12" (in parallel) within 6" may decrease the effectiveness of the treatment. Electrical lines crossing a pipe have no effect.

Natural Gas & Propane Line Installation

  1. Main line to home.  Between the meter and the hook up, if there is a flex, plex, stainless steel, or copper, use at least 2 GMX units.  3 is  even better as the longer the magnetic field, the better the savings.
  2. Treat each application as well if there is flex line to the appliance--gas furnace, hot water heater, range, dryer, gas fireplace, etc.  GMX recommends 2 units on each application.
  3. GMX recommends the following for natural gas and propane applications:
    1/4 - 1/2" line
    3 GMX Model 400s, spaced 1" apart
    5/8 - 1"   line
    3 GMX Model 800s, spaced 1" apart
    1-1 3/4" line
    4 GMX Model 848s, spaced 1" apart
    2" line
    3 GMX Model 8000s spaced 1" apart
    3" line 4 GMX Model 8000s spaced 1" apart
    4" line 5 GMX Model 8000s spaced 1" apart
    5" line 6 GMX Model 8000s spaced 1" apart
    6" line 7 GMX Model 8000s spaced 1" apart
    7" line 8 GMX Model 8000s spaced 1" apart
    8" line 9 GMX Model 8000s spaced 1" apart
    9" line 10 GMX Model 8000s spaced 1" apart
    10" line 11 GMX Model 8000s spaced 1" apart
  4. Lines that are made of iron can be swapped out for stainless steel for where the application of GMX Units are to be placed.

So far, we are finding a minimum savings of 20% having GMX units on natural gas lines.

For natural gas line installations:

  1. If the main line has black iron, you cannot install the units on it. If the connection between the meter and hook up is flex line, then install 2 Model 800s on it.
  2. If you cannot install it on the main line because there is no flex line, then install the units on the flex line for each application.
  3. If the flex line, example on a gas furnace, is 3/4-1", then install 2 Model 800s.
  4. If the flex line is 1/2", example on some hot water heaters, then install 2 Model 400s.
  5. Some homes may need 2 Model 800s and 4 Model 400s, depending on what they heat with gas.
  6. For commercial applications, use the sizing chart to determine what is needed. For example, if the main line is 3" and is of stainless steel or flex, then install 4 Model 8000s.

Installation Instructions for
GMX MAGNETIC FLUID FUEL DEVICES

On small vehicles, use 1 GMX Model 400. Place the unit at least 8-12 inches upstream from the area to be treated. Place it 8-12 inches after any pump, filter, or other turbulence causing device. The direction of flow of the fluid being treated does not make any difference.

Place the unit 6-12 inches away from any high heat sources, for example, the manifold and exhaust system. Place it 12 inches away from the diagnostic control centers and sensors. The unit should be mounted on the fuel line after the filter, before the carburetor. On fuel injected engines, mount the unit on the line to the engine, not the return line.

On midsize vehicles, sport utility vehicles, pickups, diesel pickups, buses, motor homes--follow the above directions, but install 2 GMX Model 400s instead of one. Place the units in tandem.

For semi trucks--install 1 GMX Model 800 and 1 GMX Model 400. Place the GMX Model 800 on the main fuel line between the fuel tank and the engine's fuel transfer pump. Place the GMX Model 400 between the fuel transfer pump and the fuel injection pump manifold.

Car and Truck Diagnostic Computers and Sensors

The magnetic field surrounding the GMX units can interfere with certain
functions of diagnostic computers standard on most late model cars and trucks.
Maintain a minimum 12" separation between the units and any such equipment.

Fuel M.P.G. and Emissions

After installing the GMX System, a temporary decrease in mileage or increase
in emissions may be noted. This is temporary as accumulated deposits are
being removed from the fuel system and combustion chamber.

Industrial/Commercial  Applications_Examples

REVERSE OSMOSIS

There are several applications where Reverse Osmosis (R.O) systems are employed, as there are other problems apart from hardness. RO systems remove the minerals from the raw water, but when hardness is present, there can be complications. Invariably, the RO membrane itself gets choked with scale and this makes it perform inefficiently. The life of the membrane is greatly reduced and requires constant replacement. This leads to increased maintenance costs and decreased efficiency.

When GMX is fitted on the feeder line to the RO system, before the membrane, it has been observed that GMX greatly improves the life of the membrane. Thus GMX protects the RO system and improves its efficiency. It should be noted that RO systems are very expensive; therefore GMX is an investment that protects the system.

AGRICULTURAL APPLICATIONS

Plants that are irrigated using water that is treated by GMX magnetic technology easily take in mineral salts from the soil and no sediment is formed on the soil surface. Also if mineral and organic fertilizers are used, they dissolve better which results in their need and decrease the use by 50% and at the same time, plants still continue to develop without any extra effort. This results in an increased crop production and in an increased quality of agricultural and horticultural products.

BOILERS

The magnetic fluid treatment units should be installed on the boiler water feed line between the boiler water feed pump and the boiler.  All boilers are plumbed in steel pipe.  A section of pipe approximately 24" long must be removed and replaced with a non-ferrous section, e.e. copper of non-ferrous (300 series) Stainless Steel.  The magnets are to be installed on this copper pipe.  If the boiler uses large quantities of make up water, an additional magnetic unit should be installed on the make up water lines.

GMX Boiler InstallationIf the boiler has existing scale when the magnets are installed, expect the total dissolved solids (t.d.s.) to show an increase in a water test. This is due to the scale being removed from the boiler. Water in the sight glass of a steam boiler will exhibit a light turbidity, the color of rusty mud. This is normal and desirable. When the boiler is opened for inspections, this same material seen in the sight glass will have formed a thin coating on the boiler tubes. This coating is easily wiped or rinsed off, and has no insulating properties. It does not inhibit heat transfer. However, this coating will help protect the boiler tubes from corrosion and oxygen damage.

BoilerAfter approximately four days to two weeks, the magnets will start to remove any existing scale. The residue will be visible in the blow down water. When the water again runs clear, the boiler should be free of all scale. Temperature variation between water temperature and stack temperature should stabilize at 150 degrees. This is another indication that the boiler is now scale free. Hot water boilers will exhibit a similar presence of removed scale in the blow down process. The blow down water may develop a slight reddish brown color during the first few seconds of blow down. Again this is normal and desirable and an indication that the magnets are functioning as designed.

RESULTS / BENEFITS

Any existing scale will be removed, and no further accumulation should occur. Greatly improved heat transfer means a reduction of fuel needed to heat water and cost reduction. Maintenance cost will also be reduced. Since scale can cause hot spots and premature tube failure, boiler life will be extended. The need for chemicals can be greatly reduced or eliminated with a result of additional cost savings and environmental benefits.

COOLING TOWERS

Magnetic treatment assemblies should be placed on the pipe that feeds water to the section of the heat exchanger that has the scale problem.  The assemblies should be installed on non-ferrous pipe (copper, PVC or stainless steel) only.  If the heat exchanger is plumbed in steel, a minimum 24" section of the pipe should be removed and replaced with copper.  The assemblies should be installed, if possible, one foot to three feet before the heat exchanger.

The common problems faced by cooling tower industries are scale and algae formation and corrosion. They have to use different chemicals to control the above three factors.

Installation of GMX fluid conditioners is the permanent solution for protecting the pipelines from scale formation, corrosion and algae formation. The need for chemicals can be eliminated with a result of additional cost savings and environmental benefits. As GMX fluid conditioners removes existing scales and Algae and prevents further formation of scale, the life of cooling towers will be extended and the maintenance cost will also be reduced.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Please be aware that not all magnetic devices are alike.  Foreign made ceramic and plastic magnetics do not protect you from undirected harmful magnetic energy. Steel construction in the GMX magnetic devices protect you from excess magnetism by redirecting most all energy into the fluid within the piping, shielding you from unwanted magnetism.   The less expensive devices will also lose a good percentage of their original magnetism and cannot make the lifetime warranty that GMX is able to make (see Warranty toward bottom of page).

The less expensive sales outlets may also claim to have a more powerful magnet because of their combined Gauss rating by adding up the individual ratings of each magnet within a unit.  This is misleading.  Tests done have  shown that a more powerful magnetic field does not increase the desired effectiveness, in fact it will tend to decrease the effectiveness when it becomes too strong.

The three most important considerations in evaluating the effectiveness of magnetic fluid conditioning devices is DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, and CONTACT TIME.  Some devices available are smaller, poorly constructed for safety and efficiency and thereby decrease the contact time with the fluid to be conditioned.
